FAQ > Hiring a helper > What documents do I need to hire a helper?
If you are hiring your first helper you will need to provide the following:
- a copy of your HK ID card
- proof of address: Recent (within last 3 months) utility bill (water, electricity, broadband, rents & rates). We need a copy and original (we show the original when we pick up the visa on your behalf).
- proof of financial position: HK Immigration requires that you prove you can afford to hire a helper. You have two options:
- copies of bank account with over $350,000 (statements from recent 3 months)
- copies of pay records or bank account deposit records of your salary (salary must exceed $15,000/month.
- Names, birthdates, and HK ID cards of everyone living in your household.
If you are replacing a helper, or adding an additional helper, we will also need:
- the full name of the helper
- HK ID card # of the helper
- date the helper is required to leave HK (It's stamped in her passport & is usually 2 years and 14 days after she arrived in Hong Kong.
