Arrow Orientation (in the Philippines)
Friday, May 27, 2011 at 4:12PM Arrow Orientation is designed to help prepare people to cope with the pressure of living and working in Hong Kong as domestic workers. The training includes domestic skills modules that teach the basic skills needed by domestic workers in Hong Kong. Trainees learn how to clean and cook Hong Kong style. They wash cars and learn how to safely operate the many electric appliances Hong Kong people use. We talk about Chinese language and culture, and what it is like to live and work in Hong Kong. We also include “Life Skills” modules that that discuss topics such as “how to deal with loneliness”, “how to protect your family”, “how to save and manage your money”, and “Endvisioning: preparing for the day when you will no longer work in Hong Kong”. Life Skills modules are taught by Filipino Christian professionals. We have recently added a "New Infant Care" module. Arrow Orientation is part “job training” and part “new life camp”. Although trainees work hard, the atmosphere is positive and many of our trainees make close friends and experience life transformation.
